Helen Iles is from Western Australia and has been writing fiction since primary school. She admits she didn't really take it seriously until the 1980s. She runs and trains a stable full of horses and has taught Equine Management courses at TAFE. Managing and training mounted search teams for the State Emergency Service (SES) has delayed her dream of becoming a full-time writer but retirement has meant she can now devote more time to the pursuit.
