Richard Flanagan was born in Tasmania in 1961. As well as his single crime novel he is the author of a number of novels including Death of a River Guide, The Sound of One Hand Clapping and Gould's Book of Fish, each shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the latter winning the Commonwealth Writers Prize. His novel The Narrow Road to the Deep North won the 2014 Man Booker Prize. His novels are published to acclaim in 25 countries. He lives in Tasmania with his wife and three children.
