Shane Martin is the pen name of George Johnston who later went on to author such notable works as the Miles Franklin Award winning My Brother Jack (1964) and Clean Straw For Nothing (1969). As a crime writer, Shane Martin's series featured an American archaeologist who also fancied himself an amateur sleuth. George Johnston died 22 July 1970.
