Claire was born in Canada and moved to Australia as a child. She studied film and writing at the University of Technology, Sydney and worked with film crews before moving into the political arena where she was a policy advisor to the Premier in NSW. Her first novel, When We Have Wings has been shortlisted for the 2012 Barbara Jefferis Award as well as the 2012 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Crime Fiction. She lives with her husband and son and daughter in the Blue Mountains.
